Players take turns one after the other. During the combat phase, however, players act simultaneously or react based on the initiative value of their characters on the battlefield.

The speed and power of your army are not only dependent on the strength, resilience, and individual abilities of your cards, but also on their initiative value. Therefore, it's crucial to continuously improve your heroes' abilities and strategically build up your resources to fend off enemy attacks and ultimately defeat them.

In Bluthelden®, you don’t just place your cards randomly;
each round, you expand your power through clever and tactical moves. There are various zones where you can play your cards. In your own resource zone, you build up your resources and thus your dominion. The front zone is the battle zone, which is divided into three subzones. You have the choice of where to strategically build your forces. In each zone, your characters and resources level up into new hero tiers, allowing them to become more powerful with each turn.

As with any trading card game, luck plays an important role in which cards you have in hand and which you draw. The key, however, lies in the balance of the cards in your custom-built deck! The cards are divided into two draw piles. In one, you'll only find "pool" cards. From the pool, you can strategically select resources and characters to build your game. This makes your draw luck less important than your skills!

The other pile contains spells. Long waits for the right "mana" are a thing of the past in Bluthelden®.
